Celebrating our range of Social Value activities throughout 2015: Day 6
Re:vision, a subsidiary of Procure Plus, works in partnership with local employers to help people find their dream job.
Re:vision, a subsidiary of Procure Plus, exists to help people across the northwest of England find sustainable employment. One of the ways we do this is by working with local employment groups (LEGs) to find out what types of jobs their clients want. We then work with employers from the local community to identify positions and training to enable the LEGs’ clients to access employment opportunities.
Several LEGs have indicated social care as a sector that appealed to their clients. We approached several social care companies, including Vestacare – owners of Silverdene residential home and Oakdene day care facility in North Manchester. Having experienced their own challenges with recruitment, Vestacare was particularly drawn to the Re:vision offer, understanding that we would only recruit candidates from the local area, all of whom we would screen to assess suitability. With their own social value agenda, Vestacare agreed to take candidates who may not be qualified but who demonstrate the right aptitude and attitude to care and who are committed to gaining their qualifications ‘on the job’. Vestacare also showed commitment to employing the right candidates by accommodating slightly lengthier DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checks where finger-print verification was required or foreign references had to be translated.
Since September 2014, Re:vision – in partnership with the YES Project (the local LEG) – has successfully placed 11 new staff members with Vestacare – some of whom are pictured above.
