Meet the Team: Michelle Davis
Have you been following our meet the team blog series? So far we’ve introduced you to Simon Sui, framework manager, and Sarah Casey, senior business analyst. This month, we caught up with Michelle Davis, performance analyst in our social value team, on why she chose a career at Procure Plus.
Why did you choose to work in the sector?
I’ve worked in housing for 15 years in areas such as homelessness, planning, development and neighbourhood management. I was attracted by the variety of work available, especially in places where you can have a positive impact on peoples’ lives.
Why did you choose to work at Procure Plus?
I knew that social value was important to Procure Plus and I wanted to work for an organisation that is proactively making a difference to people who need it and the neighbourhoods they live in.
What does your role at Procure Plus look like?
I’m part of the social value team at Procure Plus. My role is to oversee the grants that help residents get into employment, which is really rewarding, particularly when people have barriers which have previously made employment difficult. I work closely with local employment groups who support people furthest from the labour market and help them to successfully move into sustainable employment.
What is your favourite thing about living in the North West?
It’s the best of both worlds! You have the big cities of Manchester and Liverpool but are so close to the open countryside of Cheshire and the Peak District.
If you were taking your friends for dinner in Manchester, where would you take them?
El Rincon De Rafa – a Spanish tapas restaurant in the city. It looks small and unobtrusive from the outside, but the food and wine are excellent. It also goes well with a trip to the Northern Quarter for cocktails.
We’ll be catching up with another Procure Plus team member in January, so keep your eye on the blog!
