Meet the team: Sarah Casey
In the latest installment of our meet the team blogs, we caught up with Sarah Casey to get some insight into her past experience and her day-to-day role at Procure Plus.
Why did you choose a career in this sector?
I began my career in IT, working as a Subject Matter Expert for a cable company. During my time there I had the opportunity to get involved in shaping the system that managed service technicians and TV and phone services. This took my career down the path of working in a user support role.
From there, I moved into a business analyst role and really enjoyed finding solutions to the problems we encountered. It was great to learn how a business is shaped by what IT can deliver. It’s fascinating how much of our lives are consumed by IT without us realising!
What does your role at Procure Plus look like?
A day in the Systems team can be very varied as we deal with all aspects of technology, from computers and phones, to the software we use to manage frameworks and procurement.
My role is to translate what Procure Plus and its member want or need from its systems into a more comprehensive set of requirements, which allows our IT Development team to ensure what it delivers is fit for purpose. This process goes through various stages before the final solution is provided and I can be involved in a number of phases along the way.
Why did you choose to work at Procure Plus?
I was looking for a new challenge in my career and for a company that had a different ethos and business values. As an organisation that has great social beliefs and is continually seeking self-improvement and to help others, Procure Plus ticked all these boxes.
What is your favourite thing about living in the North West?
I relocated to the North West about seven years ago with my family, so I’ve lived here for a while now. I like the fact that there are so many places to visit or things to do in and around Manchester. If I want to do something different, I don’t have far to go.
If you were taking friends out for dinner in Manchester, where would you go?
For me, going out is typically a family affair so I would be off to Jamie’s Italian. I’ve been before but there are so many great choices on the menu, it will take a few trips to sample everything! Jamie’s can cater for everyone’s fussy food choices and has a great children’s menu.
We’ll be catching up with another Procure Plus team member in November, so make sure to check in for our next blog!
