Meeting the latest recruits

We’re frequently expanding our team to better support our members and framework partners. So, in this series of blogs, we’ll be introducing you to a few of our new starters and providing some insight into their day-to-day role here at Procure Plus.

This week, we talked to Simon Siu, a Framework Manager, about his experience in the construction sector and his role in the team, as well as his thoughts on living in the North West.

Why did you choose a career in this sector?
I studied Quantity Surveying at the University of Salford, during which I completed a placement as a student Quantity Surveyor. I got the chance to work on the pre-contract side of construction projects and felt that construction management was the next natural step.

What does your role at Procure Plus look like?
I’m a Framework Manager, which means that I’m in charge of making sure client projects run smoothly. For example, if a customer approaches us with a scheme, be it New Build or refurbishment, it’s my responsibility to manage the contractors on the project, organise the materials and make sure everything is running smoothly!

Why did you choose to work at Procure Plus?
I knew that Procure Plus does a lot of work with the local communities and that’s something I wanted to get involved with. While my experience is in the framework aspect of regeneration, I like that Procure Plus takes CSR very seriously while getting the best value and quality for its members.

What is your favourite thing about living in the North West?
I’ve lived in Manchester for a few years now and think it’s a great place to live. I like that I can live in a big city, but there is no feeling of claustrophobia and you still get a sense of privacy. I love the vibe here and think it’s a very cool place to live.

If you were taking friends out for dinner in Manchester, where would you go?
I would go for a few pre-dinner drinks at my local cocktail bar first. After that, I would suggest dinner at Gaucho, an incredible Argentinian steak restaurant. They offer big boards of different meats and tell you all about each product. After dinner, we would probably go back to our cocktail bar!

We’ll be catching up with another Procure Plus team member in September, so make sure to keep an eye on our blog!
