Procure Plus are delighted to be taking part in the Wild in Art and Manchester City Council initiative to bring all of Manchester’s communities together for Bee in the City, one of the most spectacular public art events the city has ever seen.
Since 2008 Wild in Art has animated cities across the world including Sidney, Melbourne, Cape Town and São Paulo, and created trails for the London 2012 Olympics.
Our Bee in the City design was created by Graham Hudson in partnership with Collyhurst community groups, Procure Plus and the Mustard Tree. Graham is a native of Manchester who has experienced a hectic life journey so far, living through spells in prison, homelessness and has battled drug and alcohol addictions, all of which have been influential in the pieces he creates.
The design centres around the city’s skyline and its radical history. It reflects the pride felt by Mancunians in its incredible achievements in the fields of science, history and the arts. It is inspired by Manchester, a city set to music, a place where atoms are split, friendships are forged and where anything, under the sun, is possible.
The Procure Plus Bee has been installed in the Church of the Saviour for all to enjoy.
