The Fire Risk and Mitigation framework
From getting a BAFE SP205 consultant to conduct fire risk assessments through to specialist third party accredited contractors to carry out compartmentation works, install sprinklers or fit fire alarm systems. The FRaM framework is complemented by Procure Plus’ other frameworks and Dynamic Purchasing Systems that support external fire compliance works such as carrying out EWS1 surveys and external cladding works.
Challenges
During 2020, even with the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, vital safety works have been carried out through the framework at scale, as evidenced by the spend total:
£29,363,289
This figure breaks down across the following areas:
Compartmentation
£14,323,289
Sprinklers
£15,040,000
The affect of COVID-19
The owners of tall buildings face pressure to continue removing dangerous cladding, despite the ongoing effects of the Coronavirus pandemic, according to Procure Plus.
During 2020, despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Procure Plus says “vital” safety works have continued via the application of its Fire Risk and Mitigation framework.
Just under £30m has been spent via the framework with a near 50-50 split between compartmentation and sprinklers.
The Procure Plus Fire Risk and Mitigation framework was developed to meet the needs of social landlords to help them identify and mitigate fire risk.
The framework covers everything form getting a BAFE SP205 consultant to conduct fire risk assessments through to specialist third party accredited contractors to carry out compartmentation works, install sprinklers or fit fire alarm systems.
Commenting on the framework, Robin Lawler, chief executive of Northwards Housing, said:
“Procure Plus has worked collaboratively with the GM Housing Providers’ Group since the Grenfell fire to develop four packages to service the major fire safety programmes we’ve been undertaking.”
“It is available to private sector building owners to draw on and as such has been praised by the GM Fire and Rescue Service.”

My flat has now been completed for the sprinkler work. All I can say is that I am amazed that the guys did such a good job, with no mess at all.
My mum’s bed was directly below one of the sprinkler points, I do feel if it hadn’t of been for the sprinklers the outcome would’ve been very different. They served their purpose and reduced the damage that could’ve been caused to my mum and to the damage that could’ve happened in her flat. All blocks need sprinklers. That is what saved mum.
