About the programme
Procure Plus works with employers and training providers to create clear pathways into construction careers. By providing funding, including support from Re:vision, the subsidiary charity of Procure Plus, and coordination, we support individuals who may not have previous experience or qualifications, helping them access training and sustainable employment.
Christophers Journey
Christopher, an ex-offender, was unsure about his career path and had no background in construction. After speaking with a supervisor at Kinlan Scaffolding, he became interested in scaffolding but needed support to take his first steps. Kinlan connected with Fulcrum Scaffolding Training and Safety, who then reached out to Procure Plus for help.
Support
Procure Plus provided funding for Christopher to complete his COTS (Construction Operative Training Scheme), enabling him to access site work. With this qualification, he was able to begin his career and quickly proved himself to be a valuable member of the team. He is now progressing towards achieving his Part 1 Scaffolding Trainee Card.
Outcome
Today, Christopher is building a future in scaffolding, equipped with the skills, confidence, and qualifications to succeed. Reflecting on his journey, he shared:
“Without the funding and support I received, I wouldn’t be where I am today.”
His story demonstrates the impact of collaboration between employers, training providers, and Procure Plus in creating opportunities for individuals facing barriers to work and supporting the wider industry.
