About the programme
Procure Plus works with employers and training providers to create routes into construction careers. Through funding provided by Re:vision, the subsidiary charity of Procure Plus, we help people access training and sustainable employment, including those without previous industry experience or traditional qualifications.
Christopher’s Story
Christopher was unsure about his future career path and had no previous experience in construction. As an ex-offender looking for a fresh start, he became interested in scaffolding after speaking with a supervisor at Kinlan Scaffolding. To help him take his first steps into the industry, Kinlan connected with Fulcrum Scaffolding Training and Safety, who then approached Procure Plus for support.
Support
Procure Plus funded Christopher’s COTS (Construction Operative Training Scheme), helping him gain the qualification needed to begin working on site. From there, he started his career in scaffolding and quickly settled into the role, becoming a valued member of the team. He is now taking the next step in his development by working towards his Part 1 Scaffolding Trainee Card.
Outcome
Today, Christopher is building a future in scaffolding, equipped with the skills, confidence, and qualifications to succeed. Reflecting on his journey, he shared:
“Without the funding and support I received, I wouldn’t be where I am today”
Christopher’s story highlights the difference that can be made when employers, training providers and Procure Plus work together to help people overcome barriers to employment and build lasting careers in construction.
